What is miraDry?
Underarm sweating while you’re nervous or exercising is totally normal, but excessive perspiration that can stain your clothes and trigger a foul odor may actually be a medical condition called hyperhidrosis. Laser & Skin Surgery Center of Pennsylvania offers treatment for excessive underarm sweating using the miraDry system. miraDry safely targets and reduces unwanted perspiration and odor from the underarms. Because you have roughly two million sweat glands within your body, with about only 2 percent in your armpits, you can easily live without these. You'll likely enjoy a busy lifestyle even more without worrying about excessive sweat marks, stickiness, deodorant streaks, and strong odors. miraDry is a fast, nonsurgical process to help Devon, PA patients free themselves from excessive underarm sweat. For more information on miraDry, contact our office to schedule a consultation.
How Is miraDry Performed?
To initiate your treatment, the underarm area is marked, cleansed, and then numbed using a local injectable anesthetic to help you feel more comfortable during your treatment. Next, the miraDry handpiece is passed across the skin, applying mild suction to pull the top layer of skin into the handpiece. The heated technology works on the sweat and odor glands, while at the same time keeping the outer layers of your skin cool and protected for a safe treatment. Most sessions take less than an hour. You should be able to relax comfortably throughout the process.
What to Expect from miradry
Following your treatment, your underarm area may have temporary numbness, tingling, swelling, and soreness for a few days to weeks, but you will have an immediate reduction in underarm sweat. Sweat glands don't grow back once they are destroyed, which means that your results should be long lasting. To obtain the best outcome possible, 2 treatments scheduled approximately 2 – 3 months apart are highly recommended. You may resume normal activities right after your treatment, but it may be best to avoid heavy activity, like exercise, for about a week.

Stephanie Slaski was amazing at addressing all my concerns in a very friendly, comfortable and non judgmental way! Highly recommend her!!!
Stephanie and her MA Hunter were so amazing! Both women were so friendly, knowledgeable, and pleasant, and so was their front desk staff. Medical and cosmetic dermatology can sometimes overlap, so I appreciate that Stephanie considers the cosmetic side of things to provide treatment options to not only feel, but look your best. I will not only be scheduling appointments with Stephanie for skin cancer screenings, but I 110% trust her with any of my cosmetic concerns as well. Thank you :)))

miraDry® FAQ
How many miraDry treatments will I need?
While many patients experience significant improvements after their initial miraDry treatment, studies indicate that an additional session often enhances results. Approximately 80% of individuals report a substantial decrease in underarm sweating following their second treatment. At the Laser & Skin Surgery Center of Pennsylvania, it is common for patients to require at least two sessions, scheduled 2 to 3 months apart, to achieve optimal results. This dual-treatment approach ensures a more comprehensive reduction in sweat production, providing patients with better long-term outcomes and increased satisfaction with the procedure.
Is this procedure safe?
Yes, the miraDry treatment is considered safe and has received FDA approval as a lasting solution for excessive underarm sweating (axillary hyperhidrosis). The procedure targets and eliminates sweat glands under the arms using controlled microwave energy. Since only a small fraction of your body's total sweat glands are located in the underarm area, the treatment effectively reduces underarm sweat without impacting the body's overall ability to regulate temperature and perspiration. The precision of the miraDry system ensures that surrounding tissues are not harmed, making it a reliable and safe method for significantly reducing underarm sweating.
How long will the outcomes last with miraDry treatment?
The results from miraDry treatments are permanent. Once the sweat glands are destroyed during the miraDry procedure, they do not regenerate. This permanent elimination of sweat glands means that patients can experience long-term relief from excessive underarm sweating. The treatment provides a significant and lasting reduction in sweat production, allowing individuals to enjoy a more comfortable and confident lifestyle without the constant concern of excessive sweating. The durability of the results makes miraDry a highly effective solution for those struggling with hyperhidrosis.
